Description

FREE SHIPPING! Our Pre-Finished, Live Sawn, Rustic Hickory, Engineered Wood Ceiling & Wall Planks have 1/16 inch beveled edges to provide a continuous and tight-fitting appearance that’s super smooth to the touch.

The end-matched, ‘Quick-Lock’ Tongue and Groove (T&G) profile interlocks on ALL 4 edges (2 long sides + 2 short ends) to provide a Quick & Easy, Tight-Fitting, Low-Waste installation that can be Blind Nailed to conceal all fasteners.

Milled from premium-grade materials to meet our 99% usable specifications, voids in the solid wood face are epoxy filled before each plank is factory finished with a hard, matte sheen top coat and UV cured for extreme durability.

What is Engineered Wood?

The term “engineered” refers to floor planks manufactured with a layered construction of a high-quality hardwood face bonded to a foundation of cross-layered plywood. This arrangement causes any expansion and contraction to counter one another thus limiting or reducing the amount of cupping and/or crowning the planks will exhibit when exposed to differing levels of temperature and humidity.

Solid vs Engineered Wood

What are the Benefits of Engineered Wood?

Dimensional Stability
All solid wood planks are hygroscopic and respond to changes in the home environment — expanding and contracting a bit when the temperature and humidity fluctuates. However, an engineered plank’s stratified or cross-layered construction makes it much more dimensionally stable. The planks are therefore more resistant to environmental change and a safer choice when installing in more extreme climates or in rooms with more moisture like bathrooms and basements.

Easier Installation
Engineered planks tend to be all-around easier to work with than solid wood. A thinner top layer allows for wider planks that install in less time.

Eco-Friendly
Because engineered planks use less of the prime wood, they are frequently a more sustainable and eco-friendly option than solid wood planks. The plywood core of engineered planks are made of a fast-growing timbers, which are rapidly renewable.

What Does Live Sawn Mean?

Live Sawing is an old-world milling technique and the most effective approach of sawing lumber because it utilizes the whole log. Though the technique is quite basic, it leaves unique marks that bring out exceptional character in the wood. Unlike the typical grain patterns that conventional plain sawn milling provides, the live sawn process yields a vast array of grains from all of the different cutting methods (plain sawn, rift sawn, and quarter sawn). Live Sawn flooring is the best option for those who want beautiful floors and rustic character economically.

FAQ's

The following is a list of questions we get asked the most about our Ceiling & Wall Planks. If you can’t find the answer to your questions in this section just give us a call at (800) 396-6410 or use our Contact Form or send us an Email and we will be happy to provide you with the information you need.

ARE CEILING & WALL PLANKS EASY TO INSTALL?

Yes. Ceiling & Wall Planks are very easy to handle and install. See our written Installation Manuals for the recommended best practices for each type.

ARE THE CEILING & WALL PLANKS MADE IN THE USA?

Yes. All of the Ceiling & Wall Plank products are proudly made in the USA.

ARE THERE ANY PRE-FINISHED OPTIONS FOR THE CEILING & WALL PLANKS?

Yes. All of the Ceiling & Wall Planks are available pre-finished. Please see the specific product pages for the available finishes for each.

CAN CEILING & WALL PLANKS BE INSTALLED DIRECTLY TO THE FRAMING JOISTS, TRUSSES OR STUDS?

Yes. There is no issue in doing so, however consult with your local building department, as drywall may be a code requirement in certain circumstances.

CAN CEILING & WALL PLANKS BE MADE FIRE-RATED?

Only our Faux Wood Ceiling & Wall Planks are available with a Fire-Rated option to meet any fire-code requirements your project may have.

CAN CEILING & WALL PLANKS BE USED / INSTALLED OUTSIDE?

Yes. Ceiling & Wall Planks (including MDF*) can be used in “dry” exterior applications (i.e. no direct contact with wet weather like rain or snow). For example on a porch ceiling where they will be exposed to temperature and humidity changes, but never get wet.

If you need planks that can withstand direct contact with wet weather see our Waterproof Barnwood Planks which carry a 10 year warranty.

*We recommend that the MDF Planks be sealed on the back (if not already factory primed on back) and painted with an exterior-grade paint on the front when used in these types of applications.

CAN I GET A CEILING & WALL PLANK SAMPLE BEFORE ORDERING?

Yes. We offer a variety of faux wood beam Sample Kit options HERE
*The cost of the Sample Kit you purchase will be credited towards your faux wood beam order.

CAN THE CEILING & WALL PLANKS BE INSTALLED ON A VAULTED, CATHEDRAL OR ANGLED TYPE CEILING?

Yes. All of the Ceiling & Wall Planks can be installed on any vaulted, cathedral or angled type ceilings.

CAN TILTON INSTALL THE CEILING & WALL PLANKS FOR ME?

Due to our commitment to manufacturing and providing our customers with the best products possible, Tilton Coffered Ceilings, Inc. does not provide any installation services. However, all of our products have been designed with the ease of installation in mind and so they may be installed by both DIYers and professionals alike.

DO YOU OFFER MATCHING MOLDINGS OR TRIM FOR THE CEILING & WALL PLANKS?

No. However, complimenting trim can be made by cutting the Ceiling & Wall Planks into the required widths and lengths needed. Otherwise, we recommend using moldings and trim of a contrasting color and/or finish (i.e. moldings or trim painted white).

DOES TILTON OFFER TOUCH-UP KITS FOR THEIR CEILING & WALL PLANKS?

No. Due to the proprietary color formulation and application process, providing touch-up stain or paint is not possible. Consult with a paint professional at your local retailer to have a custom stain or paint color mixed to suits your needs.

HOW DO I MEASURE FOR CEILING & WALL PLANKS?

The easiest way to measure for Ceiling & Wall Planks is by using the square foot method. To calculate the square footage simply measure the length of your ceiling or wall and multiply it by the width. Add up all the walls and/or ceilings you would like to cover and deduct for any window or door openings to determine the exact square footage. Then add 15% to allow for waste.

HOW MUCH DO CEILING & WALL PLANKS WEIGH?

The Ceiling & Wall Planks weigh in at just 1 – 1.25 pounds per linear foot, which translates to about 8-10 pounds per 8ft plank and 16-20 pounds per 16ft plank.

IS THERE A MINIMUM ORDER REQUIREMENT FOR CEILING & WALL PLANKS?

Yes. Most Ceiling & Wall Planks have a 200 square foot Minimum Order Requirement (MOQ) while the Waterproof Barnwood Planks have a 1000 square foot MOQ and the Cedar Planks all have a 400 square foot MOQ. However, you may mix and match plank sizes and/or colors of the same type to meet the minimum.

Check the product page to verify the MOQ for the type of plank you wish to order.

WHAT IS THE ‘QUICK-LOCK’ FEATURE ON THE CEILING & WALL PLANKS?

The 'Quick-Lock' feature refers to the fact that the planks are end-matched with a Tongue and Groove (T&G) profile that interlocks on ALL 4 edges (2 long sides + 2 short ends) eliminating the need for the butt-joints/seams to be placed on a ceiling joist or wall stud.

The resulting benefit is a Quick & Easy, Tight-Fitting, Low-Waste installation which reduces cutting and labor and can be blind nailed to conceal all fasteners.
