All Shallow Beam Coffered Ceiling Kit components are manufactured from High Density Urethane (HDU), a durable foam polymer similar in density to White Pine.
HDU can be cut, shaped, routed, nailed, glued, and screwed like real wood. Unlike wood, however, it is significantly lighter and will not crack, flake, blister, or warp. It is also impervious to moisture.
HDU millwork is an environmentally conscious alternative to hardwoods. For every piece of HDU used, there is less demand placed on natural forest resources.
