DO I NEED DRYWALL ON THE CEILING PRIOR TO INSTALLING A BOX BEAM COFFERED CEILING SYSTEM?
Yes. Drywall should be installed on the ceiling surface prior to installing our Box Beam Coffered Ceiling System for the following reasons:
1. If you opt for our No Ceiling Panel option the underlying ceiling surface will be visible within the center of each coffer.
2. Even though our various integrated Ceiling Panel Styles provide complete coverage of the underlying ceiling surface your local fire code will more than likely require a layer of drywall on the ceiling as a fire barrier between floors along with a scratch coat of joint compound.
3. It will provide a clean continuous surface on which to mark center of the ceiling and to snap guide lines to aid in the installation process.
